CHAN: Squirrels beat home-based Eagles in Cotonou

The Squirrels of Benin Republic on Sunday defeated Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles 1-0 in a CHAN-qualifier.

The home side dictated the pace of the game from the blast of the whistle but it wasn’t until the 29th minute when they came close to scoring. A close range header drew gasps from the spectators as it sailed over the bar.

The first half ended 0-0 with Nigerian side on the front foot, having carved out some chances and caused panic in Benin’s vital area.
