Change sometimes comes with pain, says Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has restated his commitment to changing the “lives of Nigerians”. However, he has also warned that “change sometimes comes with pains.”

In a series of tweets released on Sunday evening on his official Twitter handle, @NGRPresident, Buhari urged the people to be patient with him, as his change is “work in progress”.

“President Buhari remains committed to positively changing the life of Nigerians; making it better than he met it,” one tweet read.

“Change is a process. It does not happen overnight. It can be inconvenient; it sometimes comes with pain. This Change is work-in-progress.”

Another tweet listed “one highlight of the change agenda as the N500bn social investment programme, which will pay N5,000 monthly to the poorest, most vulnerable Nigerians”.

“The programme is designed to recognize the need for ordinary, poor Nigerians to also benefit from the resources of their country,” the tweets continued.

“Also as part of the Social Investment Prog,500,000 unemployed graduates will be directly employed as volunteer teachers to be paid by the FG.

“Also budgeted for is a micro-credit scheme that will benefit one million traders, artisans, etc, and will be managed by @BOINigeria.

“President Buhari has ordered the release of 10,000 tons of grain from the National Strategic Grains Reserve, to check food price increases

“PMB has also asked the Agric Minister to ensure that all able-bodied men & women in IDP camps are assisted to return to farming immediately.

“These are part of measures by the Federal Government to ease the hardship associated with food inflation across the country.”

Nigeria is battling more than months of relentless fuel shortages, sparking intense debates about how quickly Buhari’s federal government can deliver the change it promised.

  1. Mr President does not tweet and so it’s ok to believe he isn’t the author of those messages. In a country where there’s no electricity, fuel, jobs being lost daily, heardsmen on rampage, impunity and nepotism at CBN regarding recruitment etc. No President will decide that tweeting is the best way to communicate with it’s people. Almost one year in power and no single road has been tarred by this regime. No achievement, all we hear is propaganda as if we’re still in election mode.

  2. IF THEY HAD MADE THIS DEFINITIONS BEFORE THE ELECTIONS NIGERIAN WOULD THINK OF THE DEFINITION BEFORE THEY DECIDE. BUT ALL THIS DEFINATIONS OF CHANGE ARE COMING AFTER THE ELECTIONS WHICH CONFUSED NIGERIA MORE THAN THE POVERTY WE ARE SUBJECTED TO.

  3. Absolutely.change does not happen in a day.The turning around maintenance of Nigeria will take more than 3yrs,No Jupiter can transform Nigeria in less than 2yrs.i have no doubt in my mind, under the watch of PMB Nigeria will better than the way he met it.

  4. Dear Mr President, for the sake of Nigeria, it is better your administration focus on things that improve the general public n businesses for example, electricity, improved educational system n medical care. To channel N500bn to pay 5k monthly to the so called poor sounds like a scam. Another way to claim ghost unemployed people like some institutions in Nigeria claim ghost workers. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;teach a man to fish n you feed him for a lifetime. May God grant you the wisdom to choose wisely. God bless Nigeria

  5. Dear Mr president we all know your plans to Nigerians but the people are in patient to wait for the change.but some like me .I have no eager or doubt about your plans to this nation am one hundred ppercent asures with you may god help you ameen
