There was panic in Akure, Ondo state, on Sunday as supporters of Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of the state, and Eyitayo Jegede, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), clashed.

The two groups — the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP — unleashed violence on each other at Oba Adeshida road.

Vehicular movement was halted during the clash which lasted for several minutes.

The incident was said to be a reprisal attack over the alleged killing of an APC member in Oba Nla area of the town on Saturday night.
