Chibok parent faints at BBOG protest

One of the parents of the abducted Chibok girls fainted on Thursday as members of the Bringbackourgirls (BBOG) movement were beginning their march to the presidential villa to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The‎ group, joined by 136 parents of the abducted girls, set out from the Unity Fountain in Abuja at 8:35am.

As they marched,‎ the parents let out words of anguish for their daughters who have been in Boko Haram captivity for 640 days.

They are at present at the villa gate seated on the tarred road waiting for buses to convey them to the villa precincts.

Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education, led the march.

The parent, a woman, fainted as she waited for a bus to convey her to the villa.

It had been a long wait, as the parents had been in the morning sun for about 30 minutes, and there are no buses in sight.

A few minutes pass 10am, seven buses arrived to convey the protesters to the villa. ‎They are at present in the banquet hall of the presidential villa waiting for the arrival of the president.‎

‎The BBOG citizen movement is demanding results from the government on the rescue effort of the abducted Chibok girls.

This is the second time the group will be engaging Buhari on the issue. The first time was in July 2015, a few weeks after he‎ was sworn in as president.

  1. If this group wakes up from its slumber and ups its activities as they did with GOD, i won’t be surprised if they are intimidated, hounded and threatened. It’s time for the remaining leaders of the group to redeem their image.
