Chidi Izuwah, ICRC DG, is dead

Chidi Izuwah, director-general of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), is dead.

He was said to have died on Tuesday morning after a protracted illness.

According to an insider at the ICRC, who spoke with TheCable in confidence, the deceased had been receiving medical attention in South Africa since 2020.

It was gathered that he returned to the country before he died.

In 2019, the senate confirmed Izuwah’s appointment as ICRC chairman after President Muhammadu Buhari nominated him for the position.

Izuwah graduated with a bachelor degree in civil engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a master’s degree in hydraulic engineering from the University of New Castle Upon Tyne in the United Kingdom (UK). The deceased started his career in 1986 as a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

Late Izuwah held several senior oil and gas asset management positions in a career spanning over 21 years with Shell Nigeria.

He joined the ICRC as the pioneer executive director of the public-private partnership (PPP) resource department. During this period, the ICRC was declared the African PPP champion for the year 2010.
