Chimaroke Nnamani, senator representing Enugu east, says the alleged plot to install an interim government is a needless distraction.
Recently, the Department of State Services (DSS) said some unnamed people were plotting to install an interim government and block Bola Tinubu, president-elect, from assuming office in May.
In a statement on Thursday, Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu, said those behind the plan are enemies of the country, adding that such a government has no place “in modern-day democratic rule”.
The senator said Tinubu would “hit the ground running” after he takes the oath of office on May 29.

“The presidential election has been conducted and a winner has been declared. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be sworn in as President of the federal republic of Nigeria on May 29. An interim government is a needless distraction,” NAN quoted him as saying.
“Asiwaju will be sworn in on May 29, and he will hit the ground running.
“A Tinubu-led administration would address critical infrastructural development, youth unemployment, women empowerment, and the challenges facing the girl child.”

Nnamani said the president-elect would not deviate from his commitment to social programmes, national transformation, and restructuring.
“The forthcoming administration would rejuvenate international recognition and awareness that would attract other nations to invest in Nigeria and consequently turn the nation’s economy around,” he said.
