Ramsey appointed QPR boss

Chris Ramsey has been appointed Queens Park Rangers manager until the end of the season.

Ramsey had been in charge on a caretaker basis since the resignation of Harry Redknapp on February 3.

The 52-year-old did his chances no harm with a 2-0 win over Sunderland on Tuesday night – their first away triumph of the season.

Tim Sherwood had initially been considered favourite to bag the job, but the proposed deal fell through after he could not agree terms with the club.

Former Swansea boss Michael Laudrup was also linked with the job but the Dane ruled himself out of the running on Wednesday when he confirmed he would not be leaving his current club in Qatar.

QPR currently lie 17th in the Barclays Premier League, outside the relegation zone by virtue of their superior goal difference.
