Ibrahim Muhammad, the chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), will on Monday meet with six chief judges over conflicting orders issued in their courts.
The CJN issued the summons on Monday, August 30, requesting that the judges explain their recent court orders.
In recent weeks, the judges had issued conflicting orders on issues bordering on the chairmanship tussle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the gubernatorial candidate crisis of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra state.
Those summoned by the CJN are the chief judges of Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa, and Imo states.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Soji Oye, spokesperson of the National Judicial Council (NJC), told TheCable that the CJN has already demanded the records of proceedings in the suits that led to the recent wave of conflicting court orders.
TheCable understands that Marshal Umukoro, the Delta state chief judge, might also be facing the CJN on Monday.
Umukoro, on September 1, issued a ruling suspending Mai Mala Buni, Yobe governor, and other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from parading themselves as members of the party’s national caretaker committee.

Meanwhile, the CJN is also expected to meet with the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) over the matter.
