Clarion Chukwurah takes the crown at AMAA

Veteran actress, Clarion Chukwurah, has won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 10th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

At the awards held on Saturday, Chukwurah won for her outstanding performance in the movie, Apaye.

This award comes as welcome news for the legendary actress, who has recently been in the spotlight over controversies surrounding the eligibility of Ibinabo Fiberisima to be the president of Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, also took home an award as the best actress in a supporting role for her performance in the movie, After the Proposal.

The awards ceremony brought together Africa’s best in the movie industry to the city of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Also at the event, the founder of the awards, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, announced her intention to step down as President.
