Clark opposes waiver for Ribadu

Edwin Clark Edwin Clark

Elder statesman, Edwin Clark, has opposed the granting of an automatic waiver to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to contest the October 11 governorship election in Adamawa state as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, Clark said Ribadu does not deserve such privilege.

He urged the leadership of the party not to grant the request because the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has worked against PDP in the past.

He said Ribadu is known for raising false alarm and will end up working against the interest of President Goodluck Jonathan in the end.

Ribadu, a top member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and flagbearer of the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2011 presidential election, defected to the PDP after receiving guarantees that he would be granted a waiver to contest the election.

Though PDP has stated its intention to conduct a primary election for all those intending to contest on its platform, a committee to work out the modalities for granting Ribadu a waiver has reportedly been constituted.

  1. What has Ribadu got himself into? Cant imagine what becomes of his image and political career if he fails to get the PDP ticket. The hawks in the party can’t wait to mess him up.
