Cleric warns Muslims against sexual activity during Ramadan

Yahya Al-Yolawi, chief imam of Area 10, Abuja, Juma’ah Mosque, has warned Muslims against any act that could provoke sexual activity during the Ramadan fast.

Al-Yolawi gave the warning on Friday while delivering his Juma’ah sermon titled, ‘The Etiquettes of Ramadan fast’.

The cleric said the focus of the sermon was to call the attention of Muslims to how they could achieve maximum benefit by attracting divine reward during Ramadan.

He advised husbands not to kiss or embrace their wives with sexual desire, while observing Ramadan fast, to avoid temptation which could affect their fasting.

The cleric added that Muslims should avoid watching phonographic movies and indulging in any behavior that could lead to sexual arousal.

He said Prophet Muhammad admonished against speaking falsehood during Ramadan.

“Whoever does not stop speaking falsehood and acting in accordance with it, Allah has no need of him giving up his food and drink,” the cleric quoted Prophet Mohammed to have said.

“Among the things that can reduce one’s good deed and bring sins is to allow ourselves to be distracted by watching movies, sports, attending social gatherings and hanging around on the streets with evil people.

“Some people even greet the month with feelings of annoyance, thinking only of the pleasures that they will miss out for close to 30 days.”

He said any person fasting should avoid all kinds of unlawful actions, such as backbiting, obscenity and lies, otherwise his reward might be lost.
