The complexities of climate change and its associated jargon can prove difficult to digest. TheCable’s climate quick facts will help to demystify these climate concepts through easy-to-understand and straight-to-the-point explanations.

Here are some to keep at the tip of your fingers:

  • The Global Commission on Adaptation (ACD) says an investment of about $1.8 trillion in early warning systems, climate-resilient infrastructure, improved dryland agriculture, global mangrove protection and resilient water resources globally could generate $7.1 trillion in avoided costs, social and environmental benefits.
  • The International Labour Organisation (ILO) says about 6 million jobs could be created in recycling and waste management, if a circular economy, based on the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle is adopted.
