Coalition: Nigeria now fighting corruption without partiality

A coalition known as Nigeria First Project (NF-PRO) says the country is fighting corruption impartially for the first time.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, Hamza Saulawa, coordinator of the coalition, said the anti-graft agencies have been positioned to fight corruption no matter who is involved.

Appraising President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, the coalition said the federal government has not done badly with the economy, defence, security, education, health, and other sectors.

“To come up with our position, we have gathered data through desk review in which we massively consulted secondary sources, such as newspaper reports, magazine analysis, electronic media, social media, citizens’ delivery tracker, onsite visits, ministerial briefings, among others, on the critical sectors, such as defence, education, housing, social safety net programs and anti-corruption, and we have concluded that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, has been delivering on his campaign promises,”  Saulawa said.

“We are happy that so far Mr president is implementing his renewed hope agenda faithfully and diligently. This, in our opinion, goes contrary to the entrenched tradition of some politicians who promised one thing before election and implemented another thing after the election.

“We, therefore, salute President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s courage to continue to stick to his manifesto in spite of the hullabaloo mostly amplified out of proportion by some politicians and critics of the administration.”

In defence, the group said Tinubu’s administration is tackling insecurity using a holistic approach.

“First and foremost, we have seen a paradigm shift in the way and manner the various security agencies work. We have discovered that the secret behind the tremendous improvement in the sphere of security of our nation is associated with the overcoming of rivalry and battle of supremacy amongst the various security agencies,” the group said.

“In achieving the foregoing, we have identified that in the last year, the office of the national security adviser has played an indispensable role.”

In education, the coalition said the president has taken “some pragmatic measures” towards addressing some of the challenges “bedevilling” the sector.

The group said the president has shown his commitment to education by allocating the sum of N1.54 trillion to the sector in the 2024 budget.

“We believe that this was the first step towards transforming the Education sector Tinubu administration has taken, because without adequate funding, the sector will remain in perpetual comatose,” the coalition said.
