Some residents of Sokoto state are appealing to former President Goodluck Jonathan to return to office.
The immediate past president visited the state on Wednesday to pay a condolence visit to the family of Ibrahim Dasuki, the 18th sultan of Sokoto.
Pictures of the warm welcome he received were circulated on social media. One of the placards of the youths, who lined the streets where Jonathan’s convoy passed, read: ‘Come Back Baba Jonathan.’
They also displayed publicity materials, which had words written in Hausa language.

While in power, Jonathan had said some people will begin to say good things about him after he had left office.
“I always say that I will not even expect praises now because hardly do people praise serving leaders. It is when you leave, people will begin to know,” he told a delegation, which visited him from his home state of Bayelsa, in December 2014.
“When you leave, people will begin to compare what you have done over the period vis-a-vis what others have done, then they will compare you with whoever takes over.

“Probably that is the time some people will begin to say good about you. But I will do my best to make sure that we do change things.”
Jonathan probably enjoyed the reception he got in Sokoto, as he took to Twitter to “thank the good people of Sokoto for their warm welcome and wonderful hospitality”.

Tufiakwa! Jonathan to rule Nigeria again? My grand mum should instead. Buhari is bad no doubt but Jonathan is not an alternative. Anyway will northerners cast (rig) for Jonathan by the way? Abeg, next person!
