The Westminster magistrate court in the United Kingdom on Monday seized £27, 000 from Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former minister of petroleum.
The court confirmed this to TheCable via mail, saying Uk’s National Crime Agency, which arrested her alongside four other persons on Friday, applied for three separate cash detentions in the names of Diezani, Beatrice Agama (her mother) and Melanie Spencer, a Swiss national.
The agency said the arrest was part of an investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering offences.
Diezani was granted bail after several hours in detention but her passport was confiscated and she was expected to appear in court on Monday.

TheCable gathered that Diezani does not need to be in court over the issue but the agency can continue with its investigations.
While in detention on Friday, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided her Abuja residence and recovered some documents.
A source told TheCable that the documents would yield vital information that will help in the prosecution of one of the most powerful ministers in the administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
