Conspiracy in oil sector has led to hardship in Nigeria, says ex-presidential candidate

Felix Osakwe, presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in 2023, says an alleged conspiracy in the petroleum sector has led to the hardship of Nigerians.

Speaking with reporters at the weekend in Abuja, Osakwe said the federal government is not showing empathy over the hardship Nigerians are currently experiencing.

The politician wondered why presidents take on the responsibility of minister of petroleum resources when there are other experienced people in the country.

“You know this government is not doing anything right and they are not listening to the voice of reason,” he said.

“I don’t know what they really want in this country. We do not know where we are right now and everybody knows that things are not good. The earlier Mr President sits down and looks at every aspect of life, the better.

“How will a President of a country designate himself as the minister of petroleum? Out of 200 million Nigerians, he did not trust anyone to occupy the position as minister of petroleum?

“Even he can’t the president pick his son as Minister of petroleum? There is something that Nigerians do not know. There is a lot of conspiracy going on in that place we don’t know which has led to our suffering.”

Osakwe said Farouk Ahmed, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), should have been reprimanded for saying that petroleum products from Dangote refinery are substandard.
