Vivacity Development, a sustainable environment organisation, has launched the “EcoNigeria Pledge: Personal Climate Commitments” to enlighten citizens on sustainable practices.
According to a statement on Friday, the initiative was launched at the ongoing COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), in collaboration with Uganda Airlines.
The project aims to “encourage and empower over 20 million Nigerians from diverse backgrounds to take personalised actions” against climate change.
At the event, participants were encouraged to make personal commitments to improve their sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

The youth leaders at the event said the active involvement of young people plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the planet.
Stakeholders at the climate conference also described the initiative as a “significant step forward in the journey toward a sustainable and resilient future for Nigeria and the planet”.
In attendance at the event were Sunday Dare, former minister of sports and youth development; senators Tokunbo Afikuyomi and Yinus Akintunde; presidential media aides Bayo Onanuga and Tunde Rahman; Atika Ajanah, senior special assistant to the president on social events; and Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, senior special adviser to the president on millenium development goals.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos was also represented at the occasion.
Vivacity Development has spearheaded initiatives that empower communities and individuals to actively participate in the global effort to combat climate change.
