Musiliu Akinsanya, chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) better known as Mc-Oluomo, says the union is providing sanitisers at various motor parks to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He made this known when the state ministry of health and strategy team paid a courtesy visit to his office in Oko-Oba area of the state, on Thursday.
Nigeria recorded its first case, an Italian who came into the country for business, on February 24.
So far, this is the only case of coronavirus in the country.

MC Olumo said NURTW is aware of the large crowd that visits motor parks across the state on a daily basis, which increases the chance of easily spreading the virus.
He said an awareness programme will soon be held for members of the union, to enlighten them about the novel disease.
The chairman urged commercial drivers to maintain personal hygiene, such as hand washing, and follow guidelines provided by health authorities.

“In a bid to stop the ravaging coronavirus, the union is contributing its quota by making hand sanitisers available at our parks,” he said.
“As we are aware, our members interact with different kinds of people at motor parks and this makes them vulnerable to infectious disease.
“We will also be holding an enlightenment campaign amongst our members to create awareness about the virus.”
Coronavirus has been confirmed in at least 91 countries globally, with over 3,000 deaths.
