Nigeria’s Falconets have been drawn against France, South Korea, and Canada in Group C of the U-20 Women’s World Cup billed for Costa Rica later this year.
The draw was held at the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica in San José, the host country’s capital, on Thursday.

Falconets were placed in pot 3 along with the United States, Spain, and Mexico as the teams were seeded based on their performances in the five previous editions of the tournament.
Nigeria secured the World Cup berth after steamrolling through the quartet of the Central African Republic (CAR), Congo, Cameroon, and Senegal along the several stages of qualifiers.

Ghana, Africa’s other representative, is in Group D and will take on the United States, Japan, and the Netherlands.
In Group A, Costa Rica will face Australia, Spain, and Brazil, while Group B will see Germany take on Colombia, New Zealand, and Mexico.
Falconets have made 10 appearances in the competition, finishing as runners-up in the 2010 and 2014 editions.
In the 2014 tournament, Asisat Oshoala finished as the top scorer with seven goals and also won the Most Valuable Player award.

Falconets’ first match in Costa Rica will be against France, as the tournament holds from August 10 to 28.
