A magistrate court in Wuse, Abuja has granted Musa Musa, one of the policemen who allegedly burgled former President Goodluck Jonathan’s house, bail in the sum of N7m.
The policemen were arraigned before Mabel Segun-Bello, justice of the court, on Tuesday, by the federal capital territory police command.
“Bail is granted to allow the accused attend trial. Where it is perceived that the accused may jump bail, he may be denied,” she held.
The policemen were arrested after investigation revealed that they allegedly burgled the house of the former president, carting away all valuable items in it.

Jonathan had expressed surprise at the action of the policemen, who were hired to guard the property situated at Fourth Avenue, Gwarimpa.
He said the house was stripped bare by the burglars.
“Following series of enquiries from journalists and other concerned Nigerians on the extent of the reported vandalisation and theft in the house of former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan located in Gwarinpa Abuja, we therefore would like to make the following clarifications: The theft was discovered last month upon which a report was duly lodged with the relevant police authorities. The police immediately commenced investigations which led to the arrest and detention of some suspects, six of whom were policemen, even as investigations continue,” a statement issued by Ikechukwu Eze, media aide of the former president, had read.

“The house, which the former president bought from CITEC estate developers in 2004, was totally stripped bare by the thieves who stole every movable item in the house including furniture sets, beds, electronics, toilet and electrical fittings, as well as all internal doors and frames.”
