Court orders seizure of assets belonging to Jonathan’s former campaign director

The federal high court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of assets belonging to Ngozi Olojeme, a former director of the campaign of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

The assets comprises of residential buildings, a hotel building, a bank building and lands among others.

Olojeme, who also served as chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), has been accused of abuse of office, diversion of public funds and money laundering.

The court ordered the forfeiture after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an ex parte motion on December 12 praying it to do so.

Before the court granted the forfeiture order, the anti-graft agency had received a petition accusing her of mismanaging billions of naira shortly after she was removed from office.

Apart from Olojeme, Umar Abubakar, the managing director of the NSITF at the time, is said to be complicit in the fraud.

Some of the assets temporarily seized are one duplex and four house residential building with swimming pool, gatehouse, fully furnished with state of the art facilities, located at No. 25 Kainji Crescent, off Maitama, Abuja.

One-storey semi-detached residential building, located at house/flat 86, 11 Crescent, Kado estate, Abuja; a fenced plot of land with C of O No. DTSR16326, located at plots 104 and 105, Block IV, Phase V, Core Area, Asaba, Delta state;

Six units of one bedroom apartment; one unit of five bedroom bungalow; a block of six units of office space, all located at 196, Melford Okilo road, Amarata-Epie, Yenegoa, Bayelsa state and a twin duplex office building, located at Plot R/151 (No. 30A) Kingsway Road, Old GRA, Enugu state, registered at Enugu land registry among others.

Olojeme is the widow to Felix Obuah, the late chief security officer to Jonathan.
