A federal high court in Abuja has postponed the judgement in a suit seeking the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as national chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to September 23.
Inyang Ekwo, the presiding judge, had on July 5, fixed judgment for September 18. However, the case was not listed for hearing on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the court registrar had earlier reached a new date for the parties in the suit “because the judgement was not ready”.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024, the North Central APC Forum, led by Saleh Zazzaga, queried the propriety of Ganduje’s appointment as the chair of the party since he is not from any state in the north-central geopolitical zone.
They argued that the national executive committee (NEC) of the APC breached the party’s constitution when it appointed Ganduje.
The plaintiff wants the court to, among others, restrain Ganduje from further parading himself as the chair of the APC.
They are also seeking an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to accord recognition to all actions taken by the APC, including congresses, primaries and nominations, since Ganduje became APC chair on August 3, 2023.
Ganduje, the APC and INEC are listed as 1st to 3rd defendants in the suit, respectively.
