An Iyaganku family court in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, on Tuesday remanded one Bukar Ismail for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Serifat Adesina, the presiding judge, declined the defendant’s plea and directed that the suspect be remanded, pending legal advice from the state directorate of public prosecution (DPP).
Jamiu was arraigned on one count charge of defilement.
NAN reports that the court said Ismail should be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.

The offence was said to contravene section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2016.
Gbemisola Adedeji, the prosecution counsel, said the defendant forcefully had carnal knowledge of his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter.
Adedeji added that the offence was committed in 2023 in the Tose, Moniya area of Ibadan.

The judge adjourned the case till October 14 for a mention.
