A chief magistrate’s court has ordered that 44-year-old Yahuza Abubakar be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl in Kafanchan, Kaduna state.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) charged Abubakar to court for defilement.

Marcus Audu, the NSCDC prosecutor, told the court that Mary Abashe, the victim’s mother, reported the incident in Kafanchan on July 18.

NAN reports that Audu said Abubakar visited the complainant at the Ungwan Rimi area of Kaduna, dragged the little girl into the kitchen, and defiled her.

He added that the suspect was caught in the act by a neighbour, noting that the offense is contrary to section 258 of the Kaduna penal code.

Samson Kwasu, the presiding judge, did not take the plea by the accused for lack of jurisdiction.

Kwasu directed the prosecutor to forward duplicate copies of the case file to the Kaduna state director of public prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
