A high court in Kano on Tuesday granted an interim injunction restraining 19 political parties from attempting to disrupt the forthcoming LGA election in the state.

This comes after the state electoral commission in Kano filed an exparte motion on Friday, asking the court to preemptively ward off attempts to frustrate the body in the discharge of its statutory duties.

NAN reports that the applicant had asked the court to restrain the respondents from disrupting the electoral process in the 44 LGAs of the state.

The respondents in the suit filed before the high court are Accord Party, Action Alliance, Action Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, All Progressive Grand Alliance, Boot Party, and Labour Party.
