A high court sitting in Ogun state, on Friday, sentenced one Lanso Ogundele to life imprisonment for sexual assault.
According to NAN, Ogundele committed the offence at Olugbo area of Odeda LGA in Ogun state.
The offence, committed in September 2018, was said to contravene sections 32 and 33 of the Child Rights Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Ogundele, who was charged with sexual abuse and exploiting a child, was convicted on a two-count charge by Patricia Oduniyi, the presiding judge.

The judge said the prosecution proved its case beyond doubt with tenable evidence presented against the convict.
Ogundele was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour.
Speaking during the trial, T.O. Adeyemi, the prosecution counsel, told the court that the convict, who is a neighbour to the victim, sent the girl on an errand while her parents were not at home.

“When the victim came back to deliver the message, the convict lured her into his room and forcefully had intercourse with her,” the prosecuting counsel said.
He added that the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and the medical report conducted showed she was sexually abused.
