A federal high court in Ebonyi has upheld the suspension of Ali Odefa as the national vice-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the south-east.
Hilary Oshomah, the presiding judge, ordered Odefa to stop presenting himself as a party official in the ruling on Friday.
BACKGROUND
Odefa was suspended in October by the PDP executive committee in Oguduokwor ward, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi state.

Herbert Onyedikachi, PDP acting chairman in the ward who announced the suspension, said Odefa was involved in activities detrimental to the party’s interests.
Onyedikachi said Odefa was suspended to maintain party discipline and “uphold the values and principles of the PDP”.
The opposition party has been dealing with an internal crisis across different levels of leadership since the end of the 2023 elections.

In August, the national working committee (NWC) of the PDP inaugurated a national reconciliation committee to resolve the internal wrangling among members.
The PDP also constituted a disciplinary committee to address the misconduct and indiscipline in the party and ensure accountability.
