COVID-19 cases top 100m globally

At least 100 million COVID-19 cases have been recorded globally since the coronavirus infection first broke out in November 2019. 

According to Worldometer, there are now 100,331,908 confirmed cases across 221 countries. Of this number, 72,379,352 (97%) have recovered while 2,150,953 (3%) deaths have been recorded.

There are currently 25.7 million active cases on the globe.

With a world population of about 7.8 billion people, at least one in every 78 persons has contracted COVID-19.

USA, India and Brazil are the three most affected countries while Vanuatu, Micronesia and Samoa are the three least affected.

Nigeria has 122,996 cases, 98,359 recoveries and 1,507 deaths.

As the world battles the second wave of COVID-19, many countries are now using approved vaccines to combat the virus. Nigeria is among those expecting 600 million doses of vaccine from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
