The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday, reported 123 new coronavirus infections.
The latest COVID-19 cases were recorded in eight states, according to the agency’s update for July 17, 2021.
The NCDC said Saturday’s update includes data from Akwa Ibom for July 16 (10 cases) and July 17 (8 cases).
Lagos state topped the infection chart with 70 new positive samples, followed by Akwa Ibom with 18 cases, and Ogun with 10.

Other states that recorded fresh infections are Oyo (8), Rivers (8), Ekiti (4), FCT (4) and Bayelsa (1).
In a positive development, no new death from COVID-19 complications was reported in the country.
Nigeria’s COVID-19 death toll still stands at 2,126.

At the moment, Lagos accounts for the highest figure of fatalities with 456 deaths, followed by Edo and the federal capital territory (FCT), with 185 and 168 deaths, respectively.
Six people were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection, raising the country’s recovery count to 164,672.
A total of 169,329 coronavirus cases have now been confirmed across the country.
