The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country recorded 655 new COVID-19 cases across 20 states and the federal capital territory (FCT) on Wednesday.
The agency also said Nigeria recorded 875 recoveries in 24 hours, bringing the total number of persons discharged to 130,818.
Although still on the low side, the new positive cases are the highest daily count of fresh infections this week. 521 fresh infections were reported on Sunday, 542 on Monday, and 571 confirmed on Tuesday.
The single-day count recorded on Wednesday represents 14.71 percent increase compared to the previous day.

Ogun follows Lagos with 88 fresh COVID-19 cases, while Rivers and the FCT recorded 56 and 51 positive samples respectively.
