COVID-19: UTL Trust donates 2,000 protective gear to Nigerian medics

UTL Trust Management Services, a trustee, funds and portfolio manager, says it has donated 2,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) to assist frontline health workers in the fight against COVID-19.

The company said this would help the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research’s (NIMR) plan to procure one million PPE for testing centres.

The donation is estimated to ensure that 2,000 Nigerians get tested to determine if they are infected with the virus.

“It is clear that the provision of sufficient PPE is crucial to Nigeria’s fight against COVID-19,” the company said in a statement released on Tuesday.

The statement warned that the way the COVID-19 is spreading should alert everyone to how intricately connected humanity is while also stressing the importance of collaboration, partnership and unity in such a challenging period.

Pointing out that the thoughts and prayers of all members of staff and management are with Nigerians, especially those who have tested positive to the disease, the company commended the efforts of federal and state governments, health officials, volunteers and other stakeholders working tirelessly to contain the spread of COVID-19.

UTL Trust Management Services Limited, formerly Union Trustees Limited, was incorporated in 1966 as a subsidiary of Barclays Bank (Nigeria) Limited and commenced its operations as a nominee company.
