Nigeria’s Yusuf Islamiyat Adebukola has won a bronze medal in the women’s 64kg weightlifting category at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The 19-year-old who finished third behind Canada and Australia lifted 93kg at the NEC arena on Monday evening.

The medal is Nigeria’s fourth — two gold and two bronze — of the tournament so far.

Yusuf lifted 113kg and 119kg in the Clean and Jerk to bring the total of her lift to 212kg.

Charron Maude of Canada claimed the gold medal with a combined lift of 231kg while Cocharane Sarah Maureen of Australia clinched the silver medal with a combined lift of 216kg.

Nigeria is now ninth on the medals table at the ongoing Commonwealth Games.

Joy Ogbonne will be competing in the 71kg category later on Monday.
