CWG Day 6: Shot put final, high jump… guide to Team Nigeria’s events

FG orders comprehensive tests on athletes ahead of Birmingham 2022

On day 5, Team Nigeria added four medals to their laurel haul at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

In the women’s discus throw, the duo of Chioma Onyekwere and Obiageri Amechi won gold and bronze medals respectively.

Liadi Taiwo also won a silver medal in the 76kg category of women’s weightlifting, while Mary Osijo took bronze in the 87kg.

The Nigerian contingent will be hoping to repeat the performance and increase the medal tally at the games with three finals on day 6.

Orobosa Anabel Frank will be competing in the final of the women’s shot put at 8:05 pm while Kennedy Ezeji will participate in the men’s discus throw F42-44/61-64 final.

At 7 pm, BBNaija’s Mike Edwards is billed to compete in the men’s high jump final.

In the sprints, Nigerian athletes have 100 meters semifinals for both men and women. Table tennis singles will also serve off with Nigerians ready to compete.
