CYCDI to unveil Solution 17 for SDGs

The Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) has announced plans to unveil Solution 17, its custom solutions for positively addressing global problems  in Lagos on July 2.

The project earned the organisation winner of the United Nations sustainable development goals action awards.

The United Nations had recently published solution 17 on its website as “Good Practise, Success Story and Inspiring Breakthrough” that can be replicated and scaled up to help galvanise the momentum for implementation of the 2030 agenda and the SDGs.

Foluke Michael, coordinator of the project, said it was high time more organisations in Nigeria were engaged in concepts that could generate award-winning solutions, which she said had been adopted in three countries.

“It is our belief that having locally developed a concept that is being applauded globally to address the 17 SDGs, with India, Switzerland and Morocco having adopted it, it is expedient to publicly engage stakeholders in Nigeria on this model so that more people, governments and organizations can join us in accelerating solutions to tackling identified world problems,” she said.

Michael said CYCDI would involve many stakeholders at the event, including the corporate and diplomatic communities, as well as individuals committed to the cause.

She said the launch would also feature panel discussions that would engender robust perspectives on solutions and ideas implementation.

Meanwhile, Tayo Orekoya, senior partner at CITC, whose firm has worked closely with the CYCDI to align the solutions to suit different environments, plans and policies, has expressed hope that the event would represent a major shift for the SDGs’ stakeholders in Nigeria.

“We are very happy for the level of support and interest we have received following the global impact and acceptance that the solutions by CYDCI has generated. This gives us confidence that the Nigerian SDG communities have a lot to look forward to at the event,” he said.
