Nigeria recorded a 24 percent decrease in its single-day count of new coronavirus infections, with 662 fresh cases reported from 23 states including the federal capital territory (FCT).
The new figure was confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its report for February 19.
While the number of new cases has dropped slightly over the past 72 hours, this is the country’s lowest daily count within the past four days.
Lagos, which has continued to remain the epicentre of the pandemic, topped the list of states with 167 new cases, closely followed by the FCT with 116 infections, and Ogun with 45 positive samples.

Other states that recorded new cases are: Kano (44), Akwa Ibom (35), Edo (34), Rivers (27), Kaduna (23), Osun (23), Kwara (22), Taraba (22), Oyo (20), Ondo (19), Plateau (14), Abia (11), Imo (11), Nasarawa (7), Niger (6), Bayelsa (5), Delta (5), Enugu (3), Ekiti (2), and Jigawa (1).
However, on the number of recoveries, the daily count increased by 56 percent, with 1,083 persons confirmed to have been discharged on Friday.
According to the NCDC, the recoveries confirmed included 535 patients in Lagos, 73 in Kaduna and 69 in Imo state, “managed in line with guidelines”.

On the daily record of coronavirus-related fatalities, 10 new deaths were confirmed across the country on Friday.
A total of 150,908 cases have now been confirmed, including 127,500 recoveries and 1,813 deaths.
There are currently 21,571 active cases across the country.
