German Chancellor receives Moderna dose as second shot after AstraZeneca
German Chancellor Angela Merkel received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as her second dose after she was vaccinated with the AstraZeneca shot.
Merkel is said to have received the second dose a few days ago, after her first jab in April.

Owing to the shortage of supply and cases of blood clots with the AstraZeneca vaccine, some countries have considered combining the COVID vaccine.
A small study conducted in the UK showed that adults were likely to report mild and moderate side effects after mixing doses of the AstraZeneca and Pfizer COVID vaccines.
COVID-19 test database breached in Sweden

InfoSolutions, a Swedish information technology firm, says a database with patient data, including COVID-19 test results, was breached.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company said the breach occurred last week, adding that the problem has been “identified and solved”.
“It cannot be ruled out that personal data has been read, but InfoSolutions considers the risk to be very low,” the statement said.
It added that no information had been lost or altered.

According to Reuters, InfoSolutions provides test results for 15 out of Sweden’s 21 regions on behalf of the Public Health Agency.
Turkey begins phase three trial of its COVID-19 vaccine
Turkey has commenced phase three trials for its COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the government, the ‘Turkovac’ vaccine is expected to be ready for use by the end of the year.

“It is not clear how long this disease will go on and how much mutation it will go through. It is critical that we have our own vaccine against this disease,” President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.
Nigeria records 39 infections

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 39 new cases of COVID-19.
The agency in an update for Tuesday said the infections were confirmed in five states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The states that recorded new infections are Lagos (17), Borno (7), Ondo (6), Rivers (5), FCT (3) and Kaduna (1).
The agency said the infections recorded from Borno state were a backlog of cases from April 5 to June 17, 2021.

In terms of recovery, 116 patients were discharged after receiving treatment and recovering from the infection.
The NCDC said nobody died from COVID-19 complications, leaving the fatality toll at 2,118.
So far, 167, 331 cases have been confirmed, while 163, 913 patients have been discharged in 36 states and the FCT.
Russia says people without vaccine or immunity will have limited work options
Russia says people who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 or do not have immunity, will be denied access to work anywhere.
Speaking on Tuesday, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, said these categories of people will pose danger to others around them.
“The reality is such that discrimination will inevitably set in. People without vaccination or immunity will not be able to work everywhere. It is not possible. It will pose a threat to those around them,” Peskov said.
