Kabiru Yusuf, chairman of the board and executive director of Trust Media Limited, will receive the Lifetime Award for Journalistic Excellence by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) next week.
The Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC), a non-governmental organisation, will also be honored with the Anti-corruption Defender Award, at the 11th Wole Soyinka Award for investigative reporting presentation ceremony, scheduled for Friday December 9, 2016 by 5pm at NECA House, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
Yusuf was selected for the award because of his commitment to media excellence, as evidenced by the operations of Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust, Weekly Trust, Sunday Trust and the Hausa-language Aminiya newspapers, as well as the company’s new pan-African magazine, Kilimanjaro.
On its part, PPDC, an organisation established to increase the participation of citizens in governance in order to develop veracity in both the public and private sectors, will be honoured for its decade-long advocacy for an open society, especially due to its laudable work in ensuring open procurement system in Nigeria.
