Dakuku Peterside to deliver lecture at Otuoke varsity

Dakuku Peterside, former director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), will be speaking at an event at the Federal University, Otuoke in Bayelsa state on Friday.

Accoding to a statement by Yousuo Donald Iruo, the varsity’s registrar, Peterside will deliver a paper titled “challenging the way we deliver higher education in a changing world” at the institution’s first honour’s day lecture.

During the event, the former NIMASA DG will be sharing his thoughts on re-engineering the way tertiary education is delivered in an era of globalisation and rapid technological disruptions, and the need to be innovation-driven.

Iruo said the event is part of activities marking the send forth of Seth Accra Jajaz, a professor and the institution’s second vice-chancellor.

The registrar also added that the honour’s day lecture is a unique opportunity for town-gown interaction, which aligns with the desire of the institution to create platforms for academics and society to synergize in finding innovative solutions to society’s most pressing challenges.

The institution is one of the 12 universities established by the then President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011.

The university management boasts of over 8000 students and 200 teaching staff.
