Dalori attack victims to get ‘free’ medical care

Sunday Ochoche, executive director of the Victim Support Fund (VSF), a foundation set up to meet the needs of victims of insurgency, says the organisation lacks the funds to meet all the needs of Boko Haram victims.

However, Ochoche, who made the disclosure while speaking with TheCable on Monday, confirmed that victims of Saturday night’s attack at Dalori, Borno state, will benefit from the fund by way of getting free medical treatment.

The attack resulted in the death of at least 86 people.

Ochoche also said the organisation had about N22bn in its account as at May 29, 2015, and had since started disbursing the funds to areas that were of great importance to the victims of insurgency.

“The funds we have can only meet a small part of the needs. Nobody has anything close to what is required,” he said.

“As of May 29, 2015, by that period I believe we had generated about N22bn, and the other funds that came in after that was from the new government of Buhari; that is the government redeeming the balance of its pledge, which was an additional N5bn.”
