Dangote Refinery receives fourth crude oil shipment from NNPC

Dangote Refinery has received the fourth shipment of one million barrels of bonny light crude supplied by Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

In a statement on Sunday, Dangote Oil Refining Company said it expects to receive the fifth shipment soon.

“Preparations are in top gear for the commencement of production in Dangote Refinery, as the petrochemical company has received the fourth crude shipment of one million barrels of bonny light crude supplied by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), and expecting the fifth crude shipment, anytime from now,” the company said.

“The fresh one million barrels of crude was the fourth consignment to be delivered to the Dangote facility out of the six million barrels of crude being expected by the world’s largest single-train refinery.”

Dangote said the refinery will commence production of diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and premium motor spirit (PMS), once six million barrels are delivered.

According to the statement, Akin Omole, managing director of Dangote ports operations, told journalists at the Dangote Quay, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, that the refinery will receive about four million crude shipment by the end of 2023, and the remaining two by the beginning of January 2024.

On December 8, 2023, Dangote said its plant received its maiden one million barrels of Agbami crude grade, from the Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO).

“This supply will facilitate the initial run of the refinery as well as kick-start the production of diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG before subsequently progressing to the production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS),” the company said.

The refinery, on December 20, 2023, received the second phase of its crude feedstock, from NNPC Limited.

On December 29, 2023, Dangote received its third shipment of one million barrels of crude oil feedstock.
