Dangote to set up 500,000MT rice mill in Niger state, says Bago

Umar Bago, governor of Niger, says talks with the Dangote Group on the establishment of a 500,000 metric tonne rice mill between Wushishi and Bida LGA are underway.

Bago spoke during a lecture to mark his one-year anniversary on Wednesday.

The event held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi conference centre in Minna.

In a statement by Bologi Ibrahim, his chief press secretary, Bago said plans with Aliko Dangote, founder of Dangote Group, for the construction of “500 of 40ft of empty storage facilities” for farm estates are also ongoing.

Bago said democracy dividends are a right, adding that his administration plans to achieve more across all sectors in its second year.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support, while lauding the cordial relationship between the executive and state government.

He also commended security agencies, traditional institutions, and religious leaders for addressing insecurity in the state.

Abubakar Usman, secretary to the state government, highlighted the challenges and successes of the administration, identifying numerous prospects for the New Niger agenda.

The one-year anniversary lectures were delivered by Mustafa Bello, former minister of commerce; and Nasiru Maiturare, former vice-chancellor of IBB University, Lapai; who called on the governor to remain focused on his transformation agenda and to shun all forms of distraction.
