Dapo Abiodun
Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, has approved a training programme for permanent secretaries, principals-general, general managers, and other top management officers in the state.
A statement issued on Saturday by Kehinde Onasanya, the head of the civil service in Ogun state, said the training will take place at the Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies (OSKASOGS) located at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.
The OSKASOGS is operated by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos, Plateau state.
Onasanya said the governor had, during a meeting with Sola Adeyanju, the director of the school, described NIPSS as the highest think tank and capacity-building institution for top decision-makers in Nigeria.

He added that Abiodun also assured that the state government would “maximally explore the benefits offered by the institution’s presence in Ogun to build the capacity of its workforce” while urging the institute to come up with a curriculum in this regard.
“His Excellency is grateful to His Royal Majesty, Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, the Awujale of Ijebu land, for establishing the School of Governance Studies at the Olabisi Onabanjo University and the federal government for approving its takeover by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, the highest training institute for public governance in Africa,” the statement reads.
“Mr. Governor has indeed declared that the School for Governance Studies is not only a blessing to Ogun state but to the entire south-west states and country.”

The head of the civil service added that the approval for the training was a fulfilment of the governor’s promise during the inauguration of NIPSS-OSKASOGS that the permanent secretaries in Ogun would be the first set of students enrolled for courses at the institute.
He affirmed that the training programme is expected to commence in the second week of April, noting that civil servants on GL 13-17 would be trained based on a well-structured curriculum put in place by NIPSS-OSKASOGS.
He thanked the governor for putting the civil service on a sound footing as the engine room of the government.
Sola Adeyanju, the director of the school, described Abiodun as a true nationalist and a man of great vision, pointing out that NIPSS presence is already stamped in Ogun state.
