Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state, is scheduled to declare open the 51st annual general meeting (AGM) and congress of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).
The AGM and congress, themed ‘Breaking the Mold-Creativity and National Development,’ is scheduled to hold in Abeokuta, from July 18 to July 20.
In a statement on Friday, the association said Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, is also expected to be in attendance.
The AGM and conference will also witness the election of a new executive committee that will direct the affairs of the association for the next two years.

Steve Babaeko, AAAN president, said the event would begin on July 18 with courtesy visits to Oba Adedotun Gbadebo Aremu 111, Alake of Egbaland and Oba Adedapo Tejuosho, the Osile of Oke-Ona.
Babaeko said the conference session, which will feature a brilliant lineup of speakers from various businesses and sectors, will take up the first half of the second day of the AGM/congress.
“Discussants expected at the session are Mr. Obi Asika, Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture; Mr. Femi Odugbemi, founder/CEO, Zuri35 Media; Ms. Chichi Nwoko, CEO and founder, WHAT Media; Mr. Olumide Balogun, Director, Google West Africa; and Mr. Olatunbosun Alake, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology,” he said.

On the same day, Babaeko said candidates for various executive committee positions will have the opportunity to share their ideas with members at the manifesto night.
He said the third and final day of the event will feature two segments, including a business session and gala/award night.
Speaking further, Babaeko said the AGM provides the opportunity to look at the contributions of advertising to national development.
“The 51st AGM/Congress offers a veritable platform for a real assessment of the advertising sector, how it currently impacts the socio-economic well-being of the country as well as how it can achieve a bigger impact, as evidenced by its theme,” he said

“The Nigerian Advertising industry is a major contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
“A recent by PwC underscores the contributions of the Advertising industry. Commissioned by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and funded by various industry associations, the report put the value of the industry at N605.2 billion.”
Also speaking on the significance of the AGM, Doyin Adewumi, chairman of the events planning committee, said the line-up of multi-industry experts scheduled to address the theme of the AGM will open up new perspectives for AAAN members.
Adewumi said the association values diverse expertise, recognising the value of seeking out accomplished professionals to provide valuable insights for advertising experts to enhance their knowledge and skills.
