Dariye’s father regains freedom

Dariye Dafweng, father of Joshua Dariye (pictured), former governor of Plateau state, has been released from captivity.

Pa Dariye was kidnapped at his residence in Mushere village in Bokkos local government area of the state on Saturday and a ransom of $10 million was demanded in exchange of his release.

But, Emmanuel Abu, Plateau police command spokesperson, told NAN that he was finally released after intense pressure following intelligence gathering by police and other security agencies.

Abu said that the victim was found in Demquan village in Qan’Pan local government area of the state.

“He was abandoned by the kidnappers and he found his way to the house of somebody he knew in the village,” he said.

Ikedechi Iweha, spokesperson for the special taskforce (STF), also confirmed the release of the man, attributing it to combined efforts of the STF, police and department of security service (DSS).

Iweha also revealed the arrest of some suspects.
