Dauda Lawal wins ‘transformational political leader’ award at African summit in Rwanda

Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, has won the transformational political leader award in Africa for his “dedication to the people of the state”.

In a statement on Friday, Kingsley Amafibe, president and founder of the Nigeria Youth Peace Forum, said Dauda was honoured at the 100 most notable African Leadership and Excellence Awards in Kigali, Rwanda.

The award ceremony was part of the African leadership and business summit held from August 1 to 4.

Amafibe said Lawal’s exceptional leadership and vision have transformed Zamfara state, adding that he is “the most deserving recipient of this award”.

“His remarkable achievements in office demonstrate his commitment to excellence and dedication to the people of Zamfara state,” he said.

“Lawal’s transformational leadership has had a profound impact on Zamfara State, and his vision for a better future is an inspiration to leaders across Africa.

“Congratulations to Dr. Lawal on this well-deserved honour, and we look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of Zamfara state under his leadership.”

Prominent leaders and business moguls from across the African continent attended the summit.

Some of the leaders at the summit include former President Goodluck Jonathan, Nuradeen Danmusa, chief executive officer (CEO) of Constrix, and Rene Iloma Okpara, executive director of operations at Fairmont Petroleum Limited.

Other guests were Aplonia Munzverengwi, minister of state Zimbabwe, Smelly Dube Group CEO of Rivervalley Group, and Queen Vickylextar Beatrice Naa Manye Fofo Okang Sowah of Omanye Kingdom.

Some policymakers, bankers, industry experts, and innovators were also in attendance.
