David Mark returns to senate after ‘3-month break’

For the first time since November when his election was annulled by the appeal court, David Mark, former senate president, joined his colleagues at the upper chamber of the national assembly on Wednesday.

Mark, the longest serving senator, returned to the red chamber following his victory at the February 20 rerun election in Benue south senatorial district.

He defeated Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Both APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers gave him a standing ovation as he walked into the chamber.

Senate President Bukola Saraki inaugurated Mark after he took the oath of office, and the two-time senate president went round to exchange pleasantries.

Mark goes into history as the only Nigerian who has contested senatorial election six times, won six times and received certificate of return six times.
