David Mark visits Babangida — latest PDP presidential aspirant to do so

David Mark, former senate president, on Saturday held a meeting with Ibrahim Babangida, ex-military head of state, in Minna, Niger state capital.

The meeting lasted for two hours at the Hilltop residence of the former military leader.

NAN reports that David Mark arrived at about 1:30pm in the company of senators Zainab Kure, Tunde Ogbeha and Suleman Adokwe.

Mark, a senator since 1999, recently made known his ambition to run for president in 2019. He is seeking to contest on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.

Babangida has previously hosted some PDP presidential aspirants in his home. They include Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Attahiru Bafarawa, Sule Lamido and Ahmed Makarfi.

Mark is said to have made the trip to seek Babangida’s prayers and support.

Zainab Kure, director-general, David Mark Presidential Campaign Organisation, told NAN that the presidential aspirant can reposition the country for optimal growth.

“He was a former military governor, communications minister and senate president of the federal republic. So he possesses all the required political acumen to lead our country,” she said.

She urged Nigerians “to support the electoral processes” to enable the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “discharge its constitutional mandate”.
