MTV EMA: Davido nominated for ‘biggest award yet’

Nigerian music act, Davido, has again made the nominees’ list for an international music award, this time the MTV EMA.

Music stars all over the world will gather at the new Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, on Sunday, November 9, 2014 to celebrate the 21st annual MTV Europe Music Awards.

Announcing his nomination on Instagram, Davido could not help but show his excitement to have achieved the feat.

“I will never stop praying!! My biggest nomination yet!! Glasgow here I come!! Thanks to everyone for the support and love”, he said.

Davido has been nominated for the category of the Best African Act, along with Goldfish (South Africa), Diamond (Tanzania) and Toofan (Togo).

In addition, for the first time ever, MTV is putting an EMA nomination in the hands of the fans via social media, so music lovers everywhere will have the power to help select the fifth nominee for Best African Act.

Fans can tweet and vote from the following list of artistes to earn the fifth nominee spot using #MTVEMA plus the relevant hashtag for their favourite artiste from the following list:

The wild card Twitter vote is open until 11:59am, September 14, 2014.  All 2014 MTV EMA nominees will be announced and voting will open on September 16, 2014.

This is the fifth year that MTV has included a Best African Act category in the EMA – previous winners are 2Face (2005), Freshlyground (2006), D’Banj (2007 and 2012) and LCNVL (2013).

The award show would be broadcast live on  MTV on Sunday 9 November at 10pm central African time from The Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland (pre-show from 9pm CAT).
