Decision to pick Audu as Ize-Iyamu’s running mate is supreme, says Benin River Authority MD

The decision by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pick Gani Audu as running to Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the party’s governorship candidate in the state “is supreme.”

Addressing APC members at a meeting in Auchi, Edo state on Tuesday, Saliu Ahmed (pictured), managing director of Benin/Owena River Basin Development Authority, urged party members to support Ize-Iyamu and his running mate.

Before Audu was picked, Ahmed was strongly considered to be the deputy governorship candidate by party stakeholders.

The managing director had been selected to lead a team to mobilise support for Ize-Iyamu before the APC primary poll.

But the party leaders chose Audu, a former Etsako west local government chairman, whose name has been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alongside Ize-Iyamu’s.

Ahmed expressed hope that Ize-Iyamu, if elected, will “make ample concessions to the community (Auchi) for its unalloyed support over the years to President Muhammadu Buhari.”

He asked the party members to focus on how the APC would win the gubernatorial election scheduled for September.

“We must not give our opponents any room or space to operate during the election. Auchi must, in its characteristic manner, deliver bloc votes to ensure that the Pastor Ize Iyamu/Gani Audu project succeeds,” he said.
