Precious Dede, former Super Falcons captain and shot stopper, has been appointed as the goalkeeper trainer of India’s U17 women’s national team.

Dede, who signed a one year deal with the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF), replaced Shaikh Mohammed Qadeer as the Asian country’s women’s goalkeeper trainer.

The former Delta Queens shot stopper rejoined Thomas Dennerby, her former boss, who coached the Super Falcons, the nine-time African champions, for eighteen months.

The 39-year-old worked briefly with Dennerby when he was appointed Super Falcons coach in January 2018.

The first ever FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup to be held on Indian soil is slated to get underway on November 2-21, 2020.

The Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar has already been announced as a provisional venue for the event while Goa, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Navi Mumbai are also in the running to host matches.

Dede, who had 99 caps for Nigeria and won two Africa Women’s Cup of Nations titles with the Super Falcons, will hope to have a great tournament on home soil with the hosts.
